History.

Over 30 years in the making, The Academy is the answer to a culmination of business users, data, data-saboteurs, and business problems addressed across a myriad of companies and industries performing work in a diverse set of business-technology hybrid roles.

1995 - 2008

The beginning of a partnership with data

From the earliest days in mortgage document custody, a passion for structure and precision began to take shape — building MS Access databases and VBA programs that automated workflows and improved data quality. This era sparked a lifelong fascination with how data flows, cleanses, and transforms through ETL (Extract-Transform-Load) processes. By 1998, that curiosity evolved into consulting engagements across industries — developing Visual Basic and SQL Server solutions that brought business data to life.

2008 - 2018

Business Intelligence & Analytics

As data volumes grew, so did the need for clarity between business requirements and technical solutions. This decade marked the transition from data development to strategic insight generation — defining business problems, translating them into data models, and shaping dashboards that told meaningful stories. It was here that the core principle emerged: true intelligence begins when business and technology speak the same language.

2018 - 2025

Understanding strategy & bridging the gap

A tenure in higher education revealed a new challenge — the widening gap between organizational strategy and data maturity. Many institutions had data, yet lacked the literacy to act confidently on it. This period became one of transformation: evolving from BI analyst to analytics strategist, focusing on roadmaps, stakeholder alignment, and data-driven leadership. It was a decade of translating complexity into clarity, empowering decision-makers to see data as a strategic asset rather than a technical hurdle.

2025 - Present

The Data Confidence Academy is born

After three decades of cross-industry experience, one insight stood out: most business problems stem not from data scarcity, but from data insecurity — the fears, confusion, and barriers that prevent people from using data with confidence. The Intellicient Data Confidence Academy (IDCA) was created to close that gap. Rooted in the belief that data confidence drives organizational success, the Academy helps professionals overcome their “data saboteurs,” master the language of analytics, and transform insight into impact.
